Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for three immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Applicants who have self-determined that they are eligible for Express Entry will first indicate their interest in obtaining Canadian permanent resident status. Once a candidate submits an online profile, the federal government determines their eligibility for a program managed by Express Entry.
Mandatory Documents
1. Medical Examination
A medical examination confirmation is required to assess the health of the applicant and their family members. However, as of October 1st, 2023, an upfront immigration medical is no longer required at the time of application submission.
2. Police Certificates
Applicants must provide police certificates from all countries where they have resided for 6 months or more within the last 10 years to prove they have no criminal record.
3. Proof of Identity
A copy of the biographical data page of a passport or travel document is required to confirm the applicant’s identity.
4. Proof of Work Experience
Applicants must provide evidence to validate their work experience claims, including reference or experience letters from employers and other relevant documentation.
Additional Required Documents
Depending on personal circumstances, additional documents such as birth certificates, proof of studies, provincial or territorial certificates of qualification, letters of offer from employers, proof of funds, and other relevant documents may be required.
Tips for Applicants
Applicants must gather supporting documentation early and ensure its high quality and readability. Documents not in English or French must be accompanied by official translations or certified copies in English or French.
